Missing the magic of theatre? Our friends at Wise Children are here to help fill the stage-shaped hole in your heart!
At 4pm on Thursday 9 April, visionary director Emma Rice will be coming live to your living room in a special filmed episode of the Wise Children podcast series, broadcast online via Twitch.
Started in the lead-up to her exuberant adaptation of Angela Carter’s classic novel, Emma Rice’s Wise Children podcasts have been offering brilliant behind-the-scenes insights into her creative process in recent months. Past episodes are now available via Podbean.
Featuring visual as well as audio content, the upcoming live special will include previously unseen footage from the making of the company’s three productions to date – Wise Children, Malory Towers and Romantics Anonymous. Watch a preview below!
Lending her newly formed production company its name, Wise Children was the first production to be directed by Emma Rice since her departure from Shakespeare’s Globe, where she previously served as Artistic Director.
Co-produced by the Belgrade Theatre, Wise Children, The Old Vic, Oxford Playhouse and York Theatre Royal, this “big, bawdy tangle of theatrical joy and pain” ran at the Belgrade Theatre from 2-6 April 2019, with Rice herself appearing onstage in the role of Nora Chance.
Celebrating showbiz, family, forgiveness and hope, the play will also be broadcast by the BBC as part of its Culture in Quarantine season – stay tuned for further details coming soon!
Emma Rice’s Wise Children podcast will be broadcast live via Twitch at 4pm on Thursday 9 April, running for approximately 30 minutes.
