Fancy being part of the team behind one of Coventry’s most exciting up-and-coming arts organisations?
Our Springboard company Maokwo is currently on the lookout for passionate individuals to help implement the next phase in its development.
Maokwo is a migrant-led organisation using art as a form of activism to bring about positive change. It advocates for better representation across the sector, increasing the visibility of migrant artists and using its platform to influence policy decisions.
The company is committed to amplifying the voices of marginalised communities in Coventry, and creating opportunities for underrepresented creatives working in visual and performing arts. Maokwo also supports artistic entrepreneurship amongst young people, supporting them to develop new art forms that engage with and respond to their heritage.
Maokwo is currently seeking to recruit a director and board of trustees, and is particularly keen to hear from people with expertise in any of the following areas:
- Fundraising
- Accounting
- Diversity and inclusion
- Entrepreneurship
- Policy and advocacy
- Visual arts, and particularly African-inspired art
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Strategic thinking and dynamism
- Willingness to offer expertise, skills and personal insight
- Team work and collaboration skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
- Commitment to making meetings inclusive
- Time Commitment
Trustees will be required to attend regular monthly meetings for the first 6 months (from July 2020) followed by quarterly board meetings in Coventry or online. Each board meeting will last approximately two hours. On occasion, Trustees will also be required to respond to issues arising from board meetings via email or phone.
Trustees will have an initial six months tenure, with an opportunity to renew for three years.
