The Belgrade Theatre Over 50s Hub is creating a play and they would love your support to create a rather big prop for the show!
Our Over 50s Theatre Hub is devising a play for our Hubs Festival, In the Meantime We Try: A Festival of Stories and Action which will take over the Belgrade on Sat 15 July. The Over 50s performance is called ‘Heartwood’, and they are creating a giant ‘Spring Blanket’ as one of the props. The group is searching for knitters and crocheters who would like to help create this unusual prop.
A group meeting to knit and crochet blankets (which will be donated to AGE UK after the play finishes), and flowers, bees, and butterflies is meeting weekly on Monday’s at the theatre from 2pm – 3pm. If you are interested in getting involved, you can either come and knit with them or donate squares, blankets, flowers, bees, and/or butterflies that you have made at home.
The group is also in need of more green wool! If you have any that you can donate, please give it in at box office. Thank you!
Regular Knitting/Crochet Session
Mondays 2pm -3pm at the Belgrade Theatre.

100cm – 100cm
Knitted Square Corner to Corner (Garter Stitch) (We will stitch these into blankets)
25cm x 25cm
Pattern:
Cast on 3.
Knit 1 stitch, make 1 stitch by knitting front and back, knit 1.
This equals 4 stitches.
Next row:
Knit 2, make 1 by knitting front and back, knit 1.
That equals 5 stitches.
Knit 2, knit 1 front and back, knit to the end.
Repeat this row until the edge measures 25 centimetres.
Knit 1 row.
Next row:
Knit 2, then knit 2 together, then knit to end of row.
Repeat that row until 3 stitches remain.
Cast off remaining 3 stitches.
(Leave a tail of wool 20cm long.)
This makes a 25cm square.
