Follow the adventures of The Magnificent Six, as Crongton Knights is livestreamed straight to your home!
Following its world premiere at the Belgrade in February this year, we’re delighted to announce that Crongton Knights will be available to livestream from Weds 22 April.
Co-produced by the Belgrade Theatre, Pilot Theatre, Derby Theatre and York Theatre Royal, Crongton Knights premiered to critical acclaim as “an expression of contemporary heroism amid troubling times”.
Based on the novel by Alex Wheatle and adapted by Emteaz Hussain, the piece, which mixes music and beatboxing with storytelling, follows six youngsters who head out on a crusade across a nearby estate.
The livestream will take place at 6:45pm on Weds 22 April, the same day it should have had its opening night at London’s Theatre Peckham. It will then be available to stream any time until Sat 9 May, the day it would have ended its London run.
The livestream on Weds 22 April will include a special introduction from writers Alex Wheatle and Emteaz Hussain, co-director Esther Richardson and the Belgrade’s very own 2021 Co-Artistic Director Corey Campbell. Composer and musical director Conrad Murray will talk on 23 April.
Tune in on 22nd April for an epic beatboxing, bike riding adventure and let us know you’re watching by using #CrongtonKnights on Twitter and Instagram.
The Belgrade Theatre Trust is a registered charity, relying on support from donors, trusts, Members and audiences to continue making work like Crongton Knights and providing often life-changing experiences with theatre to communities in Coventry and Warwickshire.
The coronavirus lockdown has had a devastating impact on our organisation, resulting in the loss of more than 70% of our income, which is not distributed as profit, but is reinvested in all the work we do, which includes creating shows like Crongton Knights, and supporting those shows with a wide range of educational and community outreach programmes. For example, alongside Crongton Knights, we worked with inner-city teenagers to develop a sound and visual installation, which was presented in our foyer.
Thank you for your generosity.
